Mobile data saver for emergencies

Avira DriveNet brings computers “reputed to be dead” back to life

Tettnang 28 September 2006 - The computer is as quiet as a mouse and the most important documents seem to be inaccessible.  In such moments of panic the new Recovery Software DriveNet from Avira is like a light at the end of the data tunnel. Through different network connections, Avira DriveNet makes deleted hard drives available again – even if the computer’s operating system is not functioning anymore.

Avira DriveNet is a two-component remote recovery solution. The first component consists of a software module to create a boot medium for the system removed which doesn’t start anymore and can be neither protected nor scanned for viruses offline. The other component consists of a software module which links the remote connection to the system removed.

After connecting with the remote computer, the hard drive of the remote control system acts like it is actually installed on the local PC. In this manner, Avira DriveNet helps to save data and systems which are no longer bootable, to remove offline viruses, to recover damaged files or to set back lost Windows passwords through the network.

Easy, fast and effective: the remote system doesn’t have to have an operating system installed. The start of the remote computer over a floppy disk, CD-ROM, USB Stick or PXE- boot image and its connection to the network will totally do it. There are different possibilities to link the systems: direct connection with Cross Cable, space limited LAN or a routed environment over the TCP/IP- internet connection.

“DriveNet is a multifunctional recovery solution and almost ideal for offline virus scan or for saving damaged systems. The product reduces the costs and who doesn’t like to hear this?” said Gernot Hacker, security expert and COO of Avira.

The product contains all licences, updates and upgrades as well as 30 day installation support. Along with this product, Avira releases three other products: UnErase, WebProtector, NTFS4DOS along with CIA Commander which is another tool from the Avira-Recovery-Family.

The software can be purchased now in our online shop Avira DriveNet Professional for businesses costs 399, 00 euro (incl. VAT), and Avira DriveNet Professional + Classic Support acquired for 478, 80 euro (incl. VAT). In addition, there is also a free of charge trial version you may find here:
