Error occurred while downloading an installation file

If the attempt fails downloading an Avira installation file from our website and the Internet Explorer displays the file immediately as a Cryptic text, than the error is probably due to the configuration of the web browser.


  1. Verify the settings of the Internet Explorer

    Update your browser and then verify the security settings of the Internet zone. Therefore, open the Internet Explorer and click on: Tools (Alt + X) → Internet options. Go to the "Security" tab and click the button Custom level ...

    Enable the "MIME Sniffing" in the settings, confirm the change with OK and restart the Internet Explorer. If subsequently, the installation file still cannot be saved, follow the 2nd proposal.

  2. Download the installation file using the option "More Versions"

    Select the desired installation file from the "Download" section of our website. (e.g.: Avira Internet Security 2013) Click on “More Versions” below the Download button.


    Go to the category "Product Installation Files" and click with the right mouse button on the installation file and "Save target as ..."


    Save the file to your computer and begin with the installation of the product.
