The "Windows Action Center" reports that no security software has been installed or is disabled

In certain situations, it may happen that your Avira software is not recognized by the "Windows Action Center". Therefore, the "Windows Action Center" reports incorrectly that no antivirus software is installed or enabled and/or the FireWall is disabled.


If you see this error screen, then please open the "Avira Control Center" and check if the Avira protection components are enabled. If the protection components are activated, it means that you are protected.


To reintegrate the Avira Software in the "Windows Action Center", please perform the following steps:

  1. Disable the Avira product protection

    Open the Avira Control Center → Extras → Configuration. Then, open the menu General → Security, disable the option Product protection → Protect files and registry entries from manipulation and confirm the change by clicking on OK


  2. Open the Registry Editor by clicking on Start. Then, type regedit in the search field as seen below and hit Enter

  3. Follow the path in the Registry Editor:
    • For a 64-bit version of Windows:

    • For a 32-bit version of Windows:

    To find out the system type of your computer follow the path: Start → Control Panel → System.

  4. Set the value of "WSC_Registered" to zero and confirm the entry with OK. Close the Registry Editor

  5. Disable and enable the Avira Real-Time Protection with a right-click on the tray icon

  6. Activate the Avira product protection again

The manual configuration of the registry can also be circumvented. Therefore, the respective "RegFix" needs to be downloaded and executed. Follow the instructions below for this configuration.

  • Unzip the downloaded file (e.g. on your computer in a folder of your choice.
    The password is: avirareg
  • Open the Avira Control Center → Extras → Configuration
  • Open the menu General → Security and disable the Option Product protection → Protect files and registry entries from manipulation as seen in the screenshot above
  • Confirm the change by clicking OK
  • Run the previously extracted file by double-clicking (e.g. regfix_64.reg), and confirm the following message with Yes
  • Terminate and restart the Real-Time Protection via the Avira Control Center
  • Activate again the option you have previously disabled: Protect files and registry entries from manipulation
  • Close the configuration by clicking OK
  • The file you downloaded (e.g. is no longer needed and can be deleted

The notification of the Windows Action Center should no longer be present. When opening the Action Center, the Avira software should be listed.
