Avira Exchange Security: deactivate the checking of TNEF checksums

Avira for Exchange checks the TNEF checksums generated by Microsoft Exchange.
In this case, the checksum seems to be wrong, so Avira Exchange sends the Email to quarantine:

Error message:
Job "Scan with Avira Engine": Mail failed on job processing. Reported reason: Invalid TNEF checksum in tag '0x69004' (RecipTable)! (0xbc9a instead of 0xbc92).

There can be various causes for this problem, but they are mainly related to the internal infrastructure. Avira Exchange does not change any TNEF checksums.

You can deactivate the checking of TNEF checksums in Avira Exchange, to smooth the Email processing:

  1. Add the following key (DWORD) in the General section of the Registry HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Avira\AntiVir Exchange\3.0\General:
    TNEFIgnoreChecksums = 2

  2. Restart the service Avira Exchange Security Control.
    Avira Exchange will then stop checking TNEF checksums.
