Avira Android Optimizer gets supercharged with ‘Battery Doctor’

Avira has added the ‘Battery Doctor Project’ features to its Android Optimizer app. The enhanced Android Optimizer is now equipped so that you can use your smartphone longer, on things that really matter, without the battery draining needlessly.

Tettnang, April 26 - Avira has added the ‘Battery Doctor Project’ features to its Android Optimizer app. The enhanced Android Optimizer is now equipped so that you can use your smartphone longer, on things that really matter, without the battery draining needlessly.

“We launched our ‘Battery Doctor Project’ to close the gap between what smartphones promise in terms of capability and what they can actually deliver,” said Andrei Petruş, product manager of Avira’s Android Optimizer.

Avira research has shown that people have four major gripes with their Android smartphones— short battery life, lack of memory, slow speed, and data insecurity. With the full integration of the new battery features into Android Optimizer, Avira is now covering all major issues for Android users.

“People want to do more with their devices and spend less time worrying about battery issues,” stated Petruş. “But, to enhance battery life, it takes a number of changes under the hood to make a real difference – and this is what we have done with the new features.”

The new battery management features in the Optimizer work on two levels – hardware and software – to extend device usability. Hardware changes range from limiting screen brightness to the more mundane disabling of location services, sensors, and vibrations. Software changes include an analysis of the current battery status, suggestions to close or disable certain apps, and automatic alerts when the battery charge falls to certain level.

In addition, Android Optimizer enables you to set up custom profiles to fine-tune the energy use of your devices by specific WiFi network. Your needs for a fully powered device vary according to what you are doing, where you are, and your access to a charger – so with Optimizer, you can set a profile to meet your specific needs and do this automatically.

Android Optimizer combines these battery use functionalities into a single app to help you enhance the usability of your Android device with just a few taps. These profiles have been organized into three easy-to-use packages:

  • Emergency Mode – Slash energy use when the battery goes below 15%.
  • Battery Saver – Adjust data use, screen sleep time, and more when the battery goes below 20%.
  • Custom Profiles – User-defined profiles for your specific needs with automatic activation by geo-location or WiFi network.

“Smartphone users just want to use their devices without running out of juice mid-trip, they don’t care at all if either hardware or software is getting tweaked – even if these distinctions are important from the developer perspective,” explained Petruş. “And, they really, really don’t want to have to even think or worry about this.”

Android Optimizer answers the typical user gripes over the memory, speed, data security, and yes, the battery life of their Android device with the following enhanced feature set:

  • Clean memory – Delete residual files left behind by your favorite apps.
  • Manage apps – Get rid of unwanted or unneeded apps.
  • Optimize storage –Sort files and clean out the cache files.
  • Clean private data – Delete browser history, call logs, and your private data held by apps.
  • Battery Optimizer – Enhanced device usability and battery management
