The most effective phishing scenario lets people think they got fired via email

Only the fear of being fired is bigger than greed – that’s what an analysis of 3.332 phishing mails that were sent to employees concluded. That’s when every precaution is immediately forgotten and the email containing attachments and/or links to phishing websites opened.

Other very effective scenarios are: Mail delivery failures, company events, and vacation.
