As one of the favorite social tools, Snapchat had nearly 191 million daily active users in the first quarter of 2019. With so many users it’s no wonder that cyber criminals would like to gain access to your Snapchat account.
It’s not always a hacker who might have gotten access to your account though – sometimes you might just have lost your login credentials. But even in this case the guide will be helpful: Just take a look at (point two and three)
This is how to regain access to your Snapchat account
Your account got hacked and you can’t access it any longer? Then it all depends on the number of changes the hacker made to your account settings and your account data. The more changes that were applied, the harder it will be to regain access. From easy to hard – these are your possibilities to get your account back:
Change your password
It’s possible that the hacker already owns your login data. With this data, he obviously has direct access to your profile. Maybe he didn’t change your login data but nonetheless fiddled with your account. In such a case, log in to your account and make sure to change your Snapchat password. And yes, only use it for this one account – a password manager will help you keep track.
Use the function “Forgot my password”
Attackers don’t necessarily have to be the brightest people on earth and might have forgotten to change the email address that belongs to your account. They might have locked you out but you still have the possibility to test if you could regain your (new) login credentials via the function “Forgot my password”. You can find it on the login page of Snapchat. Once used, you will receive an email or a message to your mobile phone from Snapchat, including a temporary password. Use this password to log into your Snapchat account and change it immediately.
Contact Snapchat
The worst-case scenario: The hacker didn’t just change your password but also the email address, phone number, and all your contact data. In a case like that, you should visit Snapchat help page and fill in the form for an account recovery. You will have to add that your Snapchat account got hacked.
