Helping Cyren OEM partners with business continuity

Cyren’s announcement of a global reduction in force on 1st February 2023 created a business continuity challenge for their partners who license Cyren’s anti-malware engines and threat intelligence.

If you were an OEM partner of Cyren, Avira anti-malware technologies can help you maintain the email security services you provide to your customers.

About Avira

Avira already provides anti-malware SDKs, file and web threat intelligence to some of the best-known names in the cyber-security and email service provider industry. We do this through our technology licensing organization, AviraOEM https://oem.avira.com.

We’re part of Gen Digital Inc (NASDAQ: GEN), the company formed following the merger of NortonLifeLock and Avast in late 2022. In our most recent fiscal quarter (Q3 2023) we announced Non-GAAP revenue of $936m, and bookings of $966m

Building email security solutions with Anti-malware engines

The Avira cross-platform Anti-malware SDK is already the anti-malware engine of choice for many well-known cyber-security companies, and several of the biggest email service providers.

It runs on Intel and ARM processors, supporting Linux, Windows and macOS. This cross-platform anti-malware SDK is specifically designed to help you protect your customers from malware or ransomware, and malicious phishing or web links embedded in content. The SDK delivers a set of libraries that enable fast integration of a powerful anti-virus and local machine learning algorithms into your email security system.

It can be used for offline scanning, or online. Used online, it connects to the Avira Protection Cloud through a set of APIs. These enable Malware File Intelligence (file hash enquiries, and file upload for deeper analysis), and access to the most up-to-date URL web reputation data (including phishing sites).

Using URL web intelligence to help prevent phishing

Cyber-threat intelligence can help protect your customers from malicious websites and content. Our Avira Protection Cloud constantly analyses potentially malicious files and assesses website content seen by consumers, businesses and email service providers. This enables us to build a detailed picture of URLs that are clean, and those that contain phishing links, malware and PUA.

We share this intelligence with our partners through our Web Reputation API and our Web Reputation Threat Intelligence Feed. In addition, our Domain Categorization Feed contains security classifications and content categorization for the corresponding domains compliant with IAB-1, tiers 1 and 2.
