This motorbike will sweep thousands of Tron: Legacy fans off their feet. The futuristic-looking BMW Vision Next 100 looks like it’s been directly plucked out of the hit sci-fi.
Vision Next 100 – the future concept of transport?
With its “Vision Next 100” series, BMW introduced a set of concept vehicles which ought to display the future of transport in the next 100 years. The probably most daring concept is the Motorrad Vision Next 100. It’s really advanced, quite smart, and even might make the necessity of protective gear and helmets redundant.

Made of one piece
Turning the handlebar adjusts the entire frame. A so-called “flexframe” allows the motorbike to change direction and also enables this to be done without today’s common joints.
Whether being in motion or in a gridlock: The motorbike would be equipped with a self-balancing system and therefore wouldn’t just tilt over. This is one more of the futuristic features in this motorbike which is supposed to allow the driver to “experience a sensation of total freedom” – independently from their driving skills. Accordingly to BMW, things like helmets or protective gear might become redundant.
You won’t need a control panel anymore. The concept bike doesn’t include this traditional feature at all. Instead, drivers will wear a visor (without a helmet) which will operate like a smart display.
Information is exchanged between rider and bike largely via the smart visor. This spans the rider’s entire field of view and provides not only wind protection but also relevant information, which it projects straight into the line of sight as and when it is needed. — press statement BMW Group
De facto the visor isn’t supposed to display information all the time. The display should instead simply display relevant data depending on the situation – and the driver’s viewing angle. While the driver is using the standard angle, no information will be displayed at all. This ensures the undisturbed riding experience of the future.
If anything, they only miss one thing — The cool lightning from Tron: Legacy. But I’m sure inventive enthusiasts will create corresponding gadgets quite fast and this is how the dream of a Tron-styled motorbike will become true. Find out more about the motorbike here:
All the above features will ensure that any passionate biker longs for this (unfortunately not yet available) concept motorbike. Additionally, it’s supposed to be emission-free and to drive autonomously. By the way: The other concepts in the “Next 100 years” series are also intended to “create an emotional connection between the BMW and its driver”. Unfortunately, the concept doesn’t say anything about future regulations to protect the on-board systems from malicious attacks.
