Technical DetailsW32/Elkern.B is a virus which creates files over shared and mapped drives. It also tries to infect all executable files from \%WinDIR%\%SystemDIR%. If the worm is activated on Windows 9x system and there are write-protected mapped networks, the computer crashes shortly. Some infected files do not modify their size.
The virus has a damage routine for destroying all files on the local connected drives. This routine is activated on May, 13th and on September, 13th.
