UnErase enables network-wide recovery of deleted data
Tettnang, 6 September 2006 – What’s gone is gone? Not necessarily, as Avira UnErase offers a way out. The new security software from Avira recovers deleted data, even if it is no longer in the system’s trash. The recovery solution also brings files to light that have been removed by viruses or uninstall programs on PCs or network servers. Even compressed and encrypted files can be undeleted with UnErase.
Avira UnErase recovers various file types on NFTS or FAT-formatted drives with an exceptionally high success rate. The technology is based on the fact that every time a file is saved, the system creates sectors and clusters on the hard drive that are released again by the delete process for the subsequent write operations. However, as long as a sector has not actually been overwritten, the contents can be recovered. The powerful Clever Index Scan (CIS) of UnErase scans the system of the PC for existing sectors. Unlike comparable solutions, the software does not have to be installed on the individual computer for this. Users can then sort the detected files according to various criteria such as name, size, type, date created and date of last access. "Lost business data can impair and block business processes. Re-creation or reproduction of this data in specialized data recovery labs is very time-consuming and considerably more expensive than the use of a recovery solution", explains Gernot Hacker, a security expert and COO at Avira. "UnErase works very quickly and reliably and thanks to the central scanning function it can immediately intervene in the complete network if necessary." Avira UnErase is available to users as a single workstation application and as a network-compatible version for companies. The emergency tool can be seamlessly integrated in Windows Explorer and is very easy to use. The software is now available in two versions from the online shop at http://www.avira.com: Avira UnErase Professional for use in companies costs € 399.00 (plus VAT) and Avira UnErase Premium for private use from only € 20 (recommended price). In addition, the basic version Avira UnErase Personal is also available as a free download from http://www.free-av.de.
