Test: Avira AntiVir with leading detection performanceThu, 07 September 2006Tettnang, 07 September 2006 - The current test of AV-Comparatives, a renowned project to test antivirus software, confirms the leading position of Avira in the virus detection area. The tests were based on a specifically assembled malware collection composed of more than 550,000 viruses, worms, backdoors and Trojans as well as over 200,000 dialers. In order to examine the detection rate in the “king class” of the permanently changing, so called polymorphic viruses, the test set was enhanced by several thousand copies of ten particularly complex polymorphic viruses. The test regarding these variants is of special importance as it gives information about the flexibility of the search engine and the detection performance concerning complex viruses. Avira AntiVir scored on all levels of the test. In this manner, the Avira solution was not only certified for its best detection of backdoors but also for its excellent dialer detection. The AntiVir search engine even achieved the best value of all tested single scan engine products in the general valuation. The good detection performance was, least but not last, also achieved because of the Avira in-house innovative AHeAD technology (Advanced Heuristic Analyses and Detection). “The result of this complex test is not only good news for us but also specially for our customers.
