VDF QA Realtime Status
Avira implemented a transparent quality assurance policy, in order to keep you up to date with the latest versions of the virus definition files. The QA Realtime Status page offers you a permanent overview of the comprehensive tests conducted by our Virus Lab, prior to every VDF release.
The release of new VDF files is carried out in accordance with an intelligent release procedure. This implements enhanced quality assurance and communication policies.
Tests for detecting all In-the-Wild viruses (ITW tests) are reinforced by extensive testing for each VDF: functionality tests are performed on several platforms (Linux and Windows); false positive (FP) tests contain several operating systems, their patches and service packs in various languages. Additionally, commonly used software is inserted.
Consequently, the false positive tests are more complex every day. This is our way to ensure the highest security for our users, making sure all ITW viruses are detected and doing our best to eliminate false positives. New VDF files are released only following successful results of these tests.
Note: In case you still encounter false positives, please upload the particular samples using our submission form, selecting "False Positive Suspicion" in the "File type:" drop down. Thank you.
