Avira releases new versions for Windows- and ISA-Server

The antivirus expert Avira is releasing new versions of its antivirus software for Windows- and ISA-Server. The company has also simplified the installation routine of its consumer products.

Tettnang, 17 July 2008 – The antivirus specialists from the IT-security company Avira released new versions of its protection software for Windows Server and Microsoft ISA-Server. The release delivers enhanced performance of the products. The scanning throughput has increased by up to 20 percent compared to the previous versions. Avira has also simplified the installation routine of its products.

The new versions for the Windows- and ISA-Server are faster than their predecessors. AntiVir Server now uses the new modular scanning engine that works up to 20 percent faster than the old version. New detection modules for new threats can be added easily. The developers have completely overhauled and optimized the AntiVir ISA Server. The faster communication between the software components leads to virtually no performance impact on the system while scanning huge data volumes.

Avira’s consumer products have a simpler and more user-friendly activation mechanism. Until now it was necessary to register on a webpage and manually install the license file which users had to download. Now the users can enter their activation code during the installation of the product. The license gets automatically installed if an Internet connection is available.

With the new versions and features Avira is reacting to the wishes expressed by consumers. Tjark Auerbach, Founder and CEO of Avira, explains: “We want to show with the new versions that we have reacted upon the wishes of our customers. We continually try to improve our Solutions and deliver the customer an easy to use security application.”

The IT-security company offers free basic protection on the website www.free-av.com. Users that want additional features like Anti-Spyware or protection from email-malware can buy a one-year license of Avira AntiVir Premium for 19.95 Euro or Avira Premium Security Suite for 39.95 Euro.
