Avira and Linux Kommunale take action together against malware in the administration

Tettnang, 17 April 2008 – declaration of membership: the Linux Kommunale initiative is expanding its partner network with the world’s leading provider of security solutions, Avira. The German IT security expert, with more than 50 million customers and more than twenty years of experience, is one of the pioneers in the field of virus protection. The company head quartered in Tettnang is intensifying its activities in public administration under the auspices of the Linux Kommunale, the initiative for more open source in the public sector. The initiative, set up in 2004, is aimed at public sector users and offers an alternative to conventional and usually very expensive IT solutions. By joining the Linux Kommunale, Avira GmbH is reacting to the growing demand from public administration for open source software.

Avira GmbH brings its popular, proven security solutions for businesses and public institutions to the initiative. Avira’s aim is to produce produce lean, user-friendly products which is why it based its innovative security solutions on Linux at an early stage.
With Avira, the Linux Kommunale offers public administrations constant security at a lower cost. Those responsible for IT in public institutions will benefit from low administrative expenses due to automated work processes and central management. The resource-saving scan technology also eases the burden on computers and networks.
