Virus-free sand: Avira protects Quarzwerke Österreich against malware

Avira AntiVir scans all email correspondence for digital viruses
Tettnang, 23 October 2007 – Quarzwerke Österreich, (in English: Quartz Mines Austria) also relies on the professional anti-virus software from Avira. In addition to Melk and St. Georgen, the company also operates in 15 other mining regions in central Europe and traditionally relies on the latest technologies for mining quartz sand – including virus protection. For approximately one year now, the Quarzwerke company has appreciated the advantages of a clean IT network protected by Avira AntiVir. The security software is installed on all servers, clients and Unix mail servers and reliably scans the email correspondence around the clock for viruses, worms, spyware and other malware.
In order to put an end to unwanted intruders in emails, Quarzwerke Österreich was no longer able to do without systematic virus control and checked out specialist providers. “Our decision to use Avira is mainly based on the numerous virus protection tests that confirmed the high detection rate of the software. In addition, we were able to carry out migration to Avira AntiVir automatically”, says Johann Feiertag, Commercial Manager and IT Security Officer at Quarkwerke Österreich. Avira AntiVir picked up another plus point thanks to its low system load. The virus protection software requires very little memory space and packs the automatic updates that occur several times a day in very small data packages. The icing on the cake with the purchase of Avira AntiVir was the distinction ‘Made in Germany’: The software is in English and German and all contact partners of Avira – from the account manager to the support staff – speak our language. Therefore many questions are unnecessary or are very quickly answered”, adds Feiertag.
In addition to comprehensive know-how, the Avira software also offers free installation support. Therefore, during the introductory phase every customer is able to obtain the support of IT professionals free of charge in the event of problems. This was not necessary at Quarzwerke Österreich, as Avira AntiVir was implemented company-wide after just one day and has been working perfectly ever since.
“Especially for companies with more than one location, protection of the complete network including gateways, servers, clients, laptops and smart phones is necessary. New threats such as spyware, identity theft and hacker attacks are increasingly aimed at individual companies”, says Rainer Witzgall, a security expert at Avira.
