4. How to know if you are infected

If you experience some of the symptoms described below, there is a possibility that you are already infected. In that case, proceed immediately to scan your computer using an antivirus product.

Infection symptoms:

• Your computer runs slower (The programs need more time to start or run).
• The size of your files is unreasonably increased.
• The free space on your hard disk is suddenly reduced.
• Your files have unknown names.
• Your computer does strange things, such as playing an unusual sound or displaying an odd message.
• Documents change their content without you having made them.
• You experience increased network traffic (the internet/LAN connection runs slower).
• Applications start by themselves in an unusual way.
