Migration to version 9 (and also the new installation of version 9) is only possible on systems that meet the system requirements and that support filter drivers, which were developed according to the Microsoft Filter Manager model (so called mini-filters). An installation of version 9 on systems that do not support mini-filters is not possible. You can find the current system requirements on our website.
Migration to version 9 cannot be carried out through the program's internal update feature; it has to be carried out by installing the new product package, which can be downloaded from the Avira website:
download AntiVir Server.
The existing program has to be uninstalled, if it is older than version 7, before installing version 9. A program message will point this out.
The new version can be installed on top of the old version, as long as it is version 7 or higher. In this case, the configuration settings can be taken over automatically.
If migration to version 9 is carried out via Avira SMC, the SMC and the SMC Agents installed in the Security Environment have to be first updated to version 2.4.
Important: SMC version 2.4 will be released at the same time as the new Server version 9.
Similar to AntiVir Professional, it is possible to operate AntiVir Server versions 8 and 9 simultaneously with the SMC version 2.4. You can find more information in the FAQ article SMC: How is the migration of Professional products done via SMC? or on our Migration Portal.
Migration might require a reboot of the Server. More details in the FAQ article Is there a reboot during the migration? |
