How to migrate
It is recommended that you perform the following steps to migrate from the 1.x and 2.x product version to version 3.0:
Installation of version 3.0
Version 3.0 can be installed on the same machine as you installed version 1.x or 2.x.
It is not necessary to uninstall the prior version as the installation directory for version 3.0 is not the same.
Please contact our support department and ask for an installation script if you still want to uninstall the prior versions. Please note that this script requires a standard installation. If you have performed a user-defined installation you may have trouble finding files you have renamed or installed in other directories.
Migrating the configuration settings from a 1.x and 2.x version to 3.0
Although most configurations remain unchanged, some settings in version 3.0 are completely different. It is necessary to migrate the configuration settings from version 1.x or 2.x and adjust them to the requirements of version 3.0.
Avira provides detailed descriptions in the product packages of version 3.0 about which configuration settings and options have changed and how they need to be adjusted. The product packages also include a script which can be used to migrate the configuration settings.
Deinstallation of version 1.x and 2.x
The Avira Unix products, version 1.x and 2.x do not offer a deinstallation routine. Therefore Avira will provide a deinstallation script for customers that can be used to remove the 1.x and 2.x version.
It has to be pointed out that this script assumes the present installation is a default installation. If the installation is a user-defined installation, e.g. if files have been renamed or have been installed into different directories, these files will not be found.
