New features and the necessity to migrate

Version 3.0 offers a great number of benefits and new features to Avira AntiVir MailGate/MailGate Suite and Avira AntiVir WebGate/WebGate Suite customers. To name a few:

• A new, natively integrated Avira AntiVir Engine (AVE 2) with
  • 15 % to 20 % faster scan performance
  • Modular structure allowing for a very fast update of single engine components to fight new threats
  • Scanning of files bigger than 4 GB

• Single file update of single engine components providing a higher level of security because the complete system can be quickly updated in case of new threats.

• Additional features for MailGate Suite new Antispam version with
  • Enhanced picture scanning performance
  • Enhanced overall scan performance
  • Enhanced detection of incomplete zip-files

These new features required a restructuring of the program architecture. There is a new interface called Savapi3 to integrate the engine and a new updater that allows for the above mentioned single file update.

As a result of these changes there is a new directory structure, new configuration options and different update behaviour. Therefore it is not possible to update an existing version and version 3.0 must be a new install.
