Avira AntiVir Premium and Avira Premium Security Suite
Almost all the settings are saved. Even the donload path is adjusted to the new structure.
However, out of technical reasons, the old scan profiles as well as scheduled tasks from Version 8 cannot be kept. You have to set them again.

Note: In Avira Premium Security Suite, the Firewall settings from Version 8 will not be saved. You have to set them again.

AntiSpam rules and database, however, are saved, so you can rely on the high detection rate, as usual.
Avira AntiVir Professional
Unfortunately, the configuration option Permitted actions under Action for concerning files in Interactive mode for the Scanner, Guard, MailGuard and WebGuard cannot be kept.

The old /upd path will be replaced with the new one /update, to make sure the updates will use the new update folder, for both Update configuration options: via web server or via file server/ shared folders.

Note: In case you implement an internal update server (Internet Update Manager), you must check and adjust this parameter after converting, if necessary. Please make sure, that when integrating Avira Internet Update Manager, you marked Version 9 as shared product!

If the installer detects an IFS filter on the system, it will remove it and replace it with Minifilters. In this case, a warning appears, requesting a restart.
