These are the migration steps for all three products.
- Slide-up with upgrade notification.

Note: You need administrator rights for uninstallation!
- AV9 setup is downloaded:

- AV9 setup installs a temporary service, which takes over the automatic start of the setup, after the computer reboots:
Note: This service is registered in Windows Services as "AntiVirUpgradeService" and points to setup.exe

- A message announces that AntiVir 8 will be uninstalled and replaced with AntiVir 9:

- AV9 Setup uninstalls AV8 and copies the license and configuration file in a temporary folder.
Note: it uses the local settings (environmen variable tmp), which can be seen in Windows Explorer by typing %tmp% in the address bar. Here you will see the folder \AVSETUP_XXX\, which contains the files.
- You are asked if the existing configuration should be saved.
- Then a message announces the system restart.
Note: please restart your computer without further delay, as in this time, it remains unprotected against viruses!
- After this notification, the temporary service waits for 1 minute and then restarts AV9 setup:

- AV9 setup shows the installation progress:

- AV9 setup modifies the "old" configuration file and uses it for AV9.
- AV9 setup copies the license file in the new AV9 program folder.
- AV9 setup removes the temporary service and ends the installation:

- After completing the installation, a configuration wizard appears and you can make some important settings:

Note: As shown above, both the license file and the configuration settings are saved. Which of the settings are affected, is described in the FAQ article Which configuration settings are kept?
In case you want to see a short demonstration of the migration process, we recommend the FAQ article: AV9: Where can I see a migration demo?.
