Avira FAQ Details

1. A slide-up informs you about a new version.
2. Click on the Upgrade link within the slide-up, to upgrade to AntiVir Personal 9. It will take you to a download portal.
3. Please download the current installation kit and double-click to run it.
   NOTE: You can install AV9 Personal over an existing version. Remember that you need administrator rights for the installation!

4. During installaton, a message informs you, that AV8 will be uninstalled and replaced with AV9.
   

5. AV9-Setup uninstalls AV8, copies the license and configuration files in a temporary folder. A message asks, if you want to keep your existing configuration.
   

6. Then a restart message is displayed.
   NOTE: Please restart your system without delay, because it remains unprotected during this procedure.
   

7. The Setup needs 1 minute to restart the computer.
   

8. AV9-Setup displays the installation progress.
   

9. It modifies the "old" configuration file and applies it to AV9.
10. The installer copies then the license file in the new program folder of AV9.

11. Temporary files are deleted and the installation is complete.
    

12. After successfully completing the installation, a configuration wizard starts, which assists you with important settings:
