3. Small but powerful: single file and incremental VDF update
The program updates, the search engine and the virus definition files are absolutely imperative in order to keep the protection against viruses and malware, which the program offers, on the highest possible level.
Updating packages should, because of this reason, always be as small as possible in order to keep the time you need to download a product as short as possible.
As many customers use modems with dial-up connections to make updates, a small updating package considerably contributes to keep the updating costs on the lowest possible level.
The AntiVir Windows Workstation, version 7, meets those demands in its entirety, because the product supports the so called ”Single File Update” and the ”incremental VDF update”.
The term ”Single File Update” reveals a technology that enables to individually update single files of the program. When you make an update you don’t have to download the entire program package, you only have to update the file or files that have actually changed. Like this, you can reduce the scope of a download package by large.
The “Incremental VDF update” works as follows: the monolithic virus definition file is divided into several VDFs that have a different size, which can be updated separately if required. This, as a rule, only applies for the so called ”daily VDF“, which is updated more than once a day. Those update packages are extremely small and can be, as a consequence, be downloaded quickly.
The single file update and the incremental VDF update particularly contribute for an easier, faster and more economic updating process.
