The Avira icon has disappeared from the tray, next to the clock, in Windows 7

By default, Windows 7 only shows system icons in the tray, next to the clock. The icons of all the other applications and security programs can be found under Notifications.

Here is how to display Avira's icon permanently:

  1. Right-click the task bar and select Properties
  2. Press Customize under Notification area
  3. Change the settings for AntiVir: select Show icon and notifications instead of Only show notifications
  4. Press OK to save the settings
