Do I need to do anything after manually renewing my Avira product?

After you have renewed your license, like described in the article "How do I renew the license for my Avira product?", there is nothing more to do for you. The renewal will be identified automatically within the next 72 hours. But therefore your device (PC, Laptop...) needs to be turned on from time to time.

If you just tested the Avira product and now bought a full-fledged license, this article will explain you how to proceed.

If you renew your license, the Avira Control Center will update itself within 72 hours after the renewal purchase was done. Therefore you have nothing to do. Please note that your device (PC, Laptop, etc.) needs to be turned on from time to time within these 72 hours so the Avira product can align the current license status with the license management facility.

You require an Internet connection to activate the product. If you are using a proxy server you may need to configure the “Proxy settings”.

In case you do not want to wait 72 hours, you can also import your license manually. Therefore, please proceed as follows:

  1. Open the Avira main window from the program icon Avira Control Center on the Desktop or from Start → All Programs → Avira → Start Avira [Productname]
  2. Click on the Help menu and select License management

  3. Enter the activation code you have just received via email
If you cannot find your activation code, please read the article "Where do I find my activation code?".

You can enter the code using lowercase letters. The program will convert them automatically into uppercase letters.

You will find your activation code in the email you have received from Avira. The email was sent to the address you used during the purchasing process. In case you did not receive an email from Avira with your code, please check your spam or junk folder.

If you have lost your activation code, please read the article "Where do I find my activation code?" explains how to obtain it.

  4. In the next window you need to enter your personal data, to create the license. The fields that have a * are mandatory

  5. The information about your license is now displayed. Please check your data and confirm with Next
  6. The installation will then continue and can be completed by clicking on Finish

  7. Open the Avira software by clicking on the Avira symbol on your desktop. You will see the main window (Control Center) of Avira after completing the installation and the first update

  8. If you have not purchased a new license yet, please select the option Purchase/extend license. You will be directed to the online shop where you can buy a license. After completing the purchase and obtaining the activation key, you need to go back to step 1 of these instructions
