After installing one of the Avira Version 2013 products, the startpage of your browser might look different than before:

Internet Explorer



Firefox:

The reason for this is simple:
All Avira version 2013 products offer the installation of the Avira SearchFree Toolbar during the installation process. If you allow the installation of the Avira SearchFree Toolbar, the startpage of your browser will be changed to http://search.avira.com by default as well.


 

Depending on the browser you are using, you can change the startpage again.

Internet Explorer:

1. Go to the browser command bar
2. Select Tools → Internet Options from the drop down menu
3. Type your desired home page in the Home Page section at the top of the window

If the new tab page has been set to the new homepage, Internet Explorer allows you to change your browser new tab page at any time.

1. Go to the browser command bar
2. Select Tools → Internet Options from the drop down menu
3. Click the tab General
4. Under Tabs, click Settings
5. In the Tabbed Browsing Settings dialog box, select in the drop down under When a new tab is opened, open between:
   
   
   • Blank page
   • Internet Explorer new tab page
   • Your first homepage

Firefox:

1. Go to the browser command bar
2. Depending on the settings, select Options → Options or Extras → Options
3. Select the tab General
4. Type your desired home page in the Home Page section at the top of the window

Additionally, you will see the Avira SearchFree toolbar installed.
