The validity of the license file for Avira Free Antivirus for Windows/ Linux/ FreeBSD/ OpenBSD/ Solaris is automatically extended, using the automatic updates, before expiry date. In case no updates are performed during this extension period and the license expires, you can manually download the license file from Avira website. Copy the new license file in Avira product installation directory, to overwrite the old license.
