If you have no internet connection you can do an update of your Avira Software manually.
Note:
These instructions are valid for Avira Products Version 10 or older. However, we generally recommend an upgrade to the latest version 2012. If you’re already using an Avira Product Version 2012 please follow the instructions described in this article.
Please proceed as follow to update your Avira Software Version 10 or older manually:
- Download the latest VDF file
- Copy the downloaded file to portable media storage such as an USB Stick or a CD-ROM for transferring it to the PC without Internet access
Note: You don’t have to unpack the zip file - Plug the media storage into the PC
- Open the Avira Control Center
- Select Update → Manual update... from the menu
- Select the downloaded VDF file from your media storage and click Open
- The message "The virus definition file has been successfully updated" appears. The Avira Software is now up to date
Note:
Please keep in mind that an effective protection against new threats is only possible with an up-to-date virus definition file. Update your Avira Software at regular time intervals.
