Request a Free 30-Day Trial LicenseAvira AntiVir Personal - Free Antivirus: The Avira toolbar does not appear in the setup and the browser when the Ask.com toolbar has already been installed
If the user has already installed a Ask.com-toolbar on his computer and starts the AntiVir Free setup later, it will not show the option to install the Avira toolbar including the WebGuard.
Additionally, the toolbar will of course not appear in the browser.
This problem can be solved by uninstalling the Ask.com toolbar, followed by a change installation:
-
Uninstalling the Ask.com toolbar
- Click Start → Control Panel → Programs and Features (in XP: Start → Settings → Control Panel → Add/Remove Programs)
-
Select "Ask Toolbar" and click on Uninstall

- In the next window, confirm the removal by clicking on Yes.
Thereafter, the "Ask Toolbar" should have disappeared from the list of installed programs.
-
Change installation
- Click again on Start → Control Panel → Programs and Features (in XP: Start → Settings → Control Panel → Add/Remove Programs)
-
Click "Avira AntiVir Personal - Free Antivirus" and select Change:

-
The window of the maintenance program will appear. Leave the selection at "Modify" and click on Next.

-
In the next window you have the option to install the Avira toolbar along with WebGuard. Only if you check the first option as seen in the first screenshot, it will be installed. After the selection, click on Next again.

-
Make sure that all check marks are set at the various components and then click Next.

- In the next window you can complete the change installation by clicking on Finish.
After you restarted the computer, you should have the Avira toolbar available in your browser.
