AV10: Installation of LSP (Layered Service Provider) fails

If the installation script of Avira AntiVir reports that the installation of LSP (Layered Service Provider) failed, LSP has to be reset. It may happen, if WebGuard or MailGuard is installed, along with another LSP-based program on the same computer.

To reset the LSP on Windows XP:

  1. Go to Start - Run
  2. Type cmd and press Enter, to open the command prompt
  3. Type the following command:
    netsh winsock reset
    then press Enter
  4. Restart the computer

To reset the LSP on Windows Vista/ Windows 7:

  1. Go to Start - Programs - Accessories
  2. Right-click Command Prompt and select Run as administrator
  3. Type the following command:
    netsh winsock reset
    then press Enter
  4. Restart the computer

After the restart, you can continue installing Avira AntiVir.
