Upgrade of older consumer products to Version 2013

In order to ensure the best protection, Avira will start a migration process of older consumer products. The migrating process will assist the user to upgrade his product from the version 2010 and 2012 to version 2013 of the same product. During the migration, the license (for the paid products) and most of the settings will be automatically transferred to the new product. The entire process is completely free of charge for all users, free and paid.

Migration process


  1. The user receives via an automatic update a special Webloader that works for his product. The migration assistant informs the user that an upgrade to the latest version of his product will take place. By canceling the wizard, a new startup time will be triggered automatically once every 24 hours

    The language of the product will be automatically chosen. This means that the above text will be automatically displayed in the language of the installed product.


  2. The required files of the new product will be downloaded

  3. After the download has finished, the setup will first uninstall the existing product

  4. A reboot is required

  5. The new setup starts automatically after the reboot with the following dialog:

    The setup starts without any Cancel button. The upgrade can be stopped just by clicking the button x

    The button Next will be enabled only after the user accepts the "End User License Agreement"



Note
It is required to wait up to 30 seconds for the toolbar process to finish the installation.

For a short period of time two Avira icons will be displayed in the status bar. One of them belongs to the toolbar installer.

Only the upgrade of "Avira Internet Security" requires an additional reboot.




In case that after the uninstallation of the old product, the new product does not start or it starts with an error, you need to perform once again a manual installation of version 2013. For further information see the following KB article.

If the Avira toolbar is missing, please perform a manual toolbar installation out of the Avira installation directory. Therefore go to: C:\Program Files (x86)\Avira\AntiVir Desktop and double click the "APN Install Manager": offercast_avirav7_.exe
