Update: Release of Avira Free Android Security Version 1.2 (26.02.2013)

The release of version 1.2 is important because Google has deprecated the existing service Cloud-2-Device-Messaging (C2DM) and replaces it with Google Cloud Messaging (GCM).
This update will replace as well the push-messaging service used to trigger anti-theft commands remotely. In addition, this update includes bug fixes and improves the processor and memory usage of the cellphone.

The release of version 1.2 will support the languages, English, German, French and Italian. The officially supported smartphone manufacturers are LG, Samsung, HTC, Motorola and Sony. Likewise it is to be noted that Avira Free Android Security will only support the following android platforms: 2.2 (Froyo), 2.3.x (Gingerbread), 4.0.x (Ice Cream Sandwich), 4.1.x (Jelly Bean).

Updating the App
The user will get a notification from the Google Play Store. Once the user clicks on “Update”, the on-device app will be migrated automatically from C2DM to GCM.
