If the user has already installed an Ask.com-toolbar on his computer and starts the Avira Free Antivirus setup later, it will not show the option to install the Avira toolbar including the Web Protection.

This problem can be solved by uninstalling the Ask.com toolbar, followed by a change installation:

Uninstalling the Ask.com toolbar

1. Windows 7
   Start → Control Panel → Programs and Features
   
   Windows XP
   Start → Settings → Control Panel → Add or Remove Programs


2. Select "Ask Toolbar" and click on Uninstall.
   
   
3. In the next window, confirm the removal by clicking on Yes.

Thereafter, the "Ask Toolbar" should have disappeared from the list of installed programs.

Change installation

1. Windows 7
   Start → Control Panel → Programs and Features
   
   Windows XP
   Start → Settings → Control Panel → Add/Remove Programs


2. Click "Avira Free Antivirus" and select Change:
   
   
3. The window of the maintenance program will appear. Keep the selection "Modify" and click on Next.
   
   
    
4. The next screen gives you the opportunity to install the Web Protection with the Avira SearchFree Toolbar and the Avira SearchFree Updater. Therefore, you have to check the first option as seen in the screenshot. After the selection, click on Next.
   
   
5. Make sure that all check marks are set at the various components and then click Next.
   
   
6. In the next window you can complete the modified installation by clicking on Finish.

After a reboot of the computer, the Web Protection with the Avira SearchFree Toolbar should be available.
