If you have deactivated product updates and just manually triggered an update in your Avira 2012 product (Avira Free Antivirus, Avira Antivirus Premium 2012, Avira Internet Security 2012, Avira Professional Security), it might, in some rare cases, cause the possibility of updates being disabled and that Web Protection is not running anymore.

If you attempt to start an update within the Avira console, you will get an error message like “scheduler is not loaded”.

In case you have encountered this problem, we recommend you the following workaround:

Click on StartAll ProgramsAccessoiresCommand Prompt. Enter the following line:

Avira Professional Security

"C:\Program Files\Avira\AntiVir Desktop\update.exe" /productupdatemode=3 /DM="0"

Vista/Windows 7 (32-bit):
"C:\Program Files\Avira\AntiVir Desktop\update.exe" /productupdatemode=3 /DM="0"

Vista/Windows 7 (64-bit):
"C:\Program Files (x86)\Avira\AntiVir Desktop\update.exe" /productupdatemode=3 /DM="0"

Avira Free Antivirus, Avira Antivirus Premium 2012, Avira Internet Security 2012

"C:\Program Files\Avira\AntiVir Desktop\update.exe" /DM="0" /RECEIVETIMEOUT=120

Windows Vista/7 (32-bit):
"C:\Program Files\Avira\AntiVir Desktop\update.exe" /DM="0" /RECEIVETIMEOUT=120

Windows Vista/7 (64-bit):
"C:\Program Files (x86)\Avira\AntiVir Desktop\update.exe" /DM="0" /RECEIVETIMEOUT=120

Now your Avira product should be fully functional again.
