What to do if Avira Antivirus Premium, Avira Internet Security or Avira Professional Security online protection is inactive after installation?

Check if Windows Defender is active and then reinstall (repair) Avira Antivirus Premium, Avira Internet Security or Avira Professional Security:

  1. Go to StartControl Panel
    Next to Display you can find an option to switch from Category to small/ large icons
  2. Click Windows Defender then go to ToolsOptions
  3. Remove the checkmark for Automatically scan my computer (recommended)
  4. Click Real-time protection in the left menu
  5. Remove the checkmark for Use real-time protection (recommended)
  6. Click Administrator in the left menu
  7. Remove the checkmark for Use this program and press Save
  8. Go to StartControl PanelPrograms and FeaturesUninstall programs
  9. Right-click the Avira product and select Change
  10. Carry on the installation process then restart the computer
