1. Secure the quarantines

The quarantines that need to be secured are located in the subfolder of "Quarantine".

  • Default Quarantine
  • Infected Mails
  • Information-store-quarantine

32-bit System: C:\Programme\Avira\Avira Exchange Security\AviraData\Quarantine\
64-bit System: C:\Program Files (x86)\Avira\Avira Exchange Security\AviraData\Quarantine\

If there is any content in the "Badmail" folder please secure as well this data.

32-bit System: C:\Programme\Avira\Avira Exchange Security\AviraData\Badmail \
64-bit System: C:\Program Files (x86)\Avira\Avira Exchange Security\AviraData\Badmail\

2. Rename the quarantines

In order to reuse the saved quarantines as archives in the Avira Security Exchange, the following folders must be renamed:

  • Default Quarantine
  • Infected Mails
  • Information-store-quarantine

Rename this quarantines(e.g. Infected Mails in Infected Mails_Archive).

3. Copy the quarantines back

Once you have successfully reinstalled or updated Avira Security Exchange, copy the renamed quarantines in the respective directories:

32-bit System: C:\Programme\Avira\Avira Exchange Security\AviraData\Quarantine\
64-bit System: C:\Program Files (x86)\Avira\Avira Exchange Security\AviraData\Quarantine\

If you have previously secured any content from the former "Badmail" folder, include as well that content in the new "Badmail" folder.

32-bit System: C:\Programme\Avira\Avira Exchange Security\AviraData\Badmail\
64-bit System: C:\Program Files (x86)\Avira\Avira Exchange Security\AviraData\Badmail\

Note
The directory structure of the new Avira Exchange Security 14 has changed.
The installation directory is located in the 64 bit directory i.e.
C:\Program Files\Avira\Avira Exchange Security\

4. Create quarantines

Open the Exchange Avira Security Management Console.
Proceed to the path Basic Configuration → Folders → Quarantines and create the same quarantines you pasted previously. To do this, click with the right mouse button in the right console pane and select New → Quarantine.

Note
Please, make sure that the quarantine names you create are identical with the renamed quarantines.
In our case:

  • Default Quarantine_Archive
  • Infected Mails_Archive
  • Information-store-quarantine_Archive

Subsequently, you can access these quarantines via the "Avira Monitor" out of the Avira Exchange Security Manager. Avira Exchange Security → Avira Monitor → Servers → [your_server] → Quarantine Areas.
