Trojan hides behind the schedule of the Football World Cup
Thu, 04 May 2006
Tettnang, 4 May 2006 - There are only 36 days left until the beginning of the Football World Cup and Germany is already in a fever of excitement. Nevertheless, the enthusiasm caused by this particular event is also used by the virus programmers. According to some press releases, there are emails written in German that are circulating with the subject "Fußball Weltmeisterschaft 2006 in Deutschland" (Football World Cup 2006 in Germany). The email contains a link that invites the user to download the schedule of the Football World Cup 2006. If the user clicks on the link, a file called googlebook.exe will be transferred on the computer. As a consequence, the Trojan will install itself on the user’s computer as soon as it is executed.
Avira detects this Trojan since 1st of May as "TR/Haxdoor.IN" and offers its customers the required protection.
