Tettnang, 2 October 2006 - Avira has recognized some new variants of the worm "Worm/Stration.C". in the course of the day. The worm that spreads via email affects the following operating systems: Windows 95, 98, 98 SE, Windows NT, Windows ME, Windows 2000, Windows XP and Windows 2003. The consequences of "Worm/Stration.C" are, among others: it downloads files, steals information and enables unauthorized access on the computer.
The Avira AntiVir users were already protected by the VDF version 6.36.00.33 dating 19 September as all new variants were already detected without an additional VDF update.
