Tettnang, 5 September 2006 – According to press reports there is a new worm that spreads through the Instant Messenger MSN. The worm sends text messages with a link to users who are in the contact list of the installed MSN Messenger. As soon as the user clicks on this link the worm is loaded and executed on the relevant system with a HTTP-GET inquiry. The worm renames the source file "MSNMSGR.EXE" and copies itself where the source file was. Avira detected this new variant proactively and already provided a new update on 4 September 2006 as "Worm/Braban.H". Please find further information in our virus description.
