Avira is Fastest-Growing Antivirus Vendor Worldwide in 2012

Tettnang, Germany --- September 11, 2012 – Security expert Avira announced today that the latest OPSWAT Market Share Report shows that Avira’s market share is the fastest-growing among all antivirus vendors.

According to OPSWAT’s September 2012 report, Avira jumped 2.8% to a total worldwide market share of 12.1%.

“It gives us a lot of satisfaction knowing that we now protect more than one in every ten computers in every country on the planet,” said Travis Witteveen, COO at Avira. “We see our market share growth in our security datacenters, where our antivirus lab is now analysing 2,453,670 suspicious files every month and handling 1,317,128 virus update connections every minute. OPSWAT detects installments of data security applications installed on endpoints using Windows systems from a worldwide sample of more than 140,000 computers, and compares percentage market share among competitive vendors.
