Mon, 04 February 2008
Tettnang, 4 February 2008 – Avira has obtained the VB100-Award – the sought after quality title of the “Virus Bulletin” magazine – eleven times. This confirms that the Avira's virus research team work with continuity and develop their security products to the highest possible standard.
The “Virus Bulletin”, an entity in charge of the classication of IT security providers worldwide, tested and scrutinized to find out which malware protection for Windows Server 2003 was the best. In total the detection performance of 27 programs was tested with "In-The-Wild"-viruses, worms, polymorphic viruses and macro viruses. Other constituent parts of the test were the activation of false alarms (false positives) and the speed and security while scanning archives (CAB, JAR, RAR, TGZ, ZIP, etc).
The new Version 8 of Avira AntiVir Windows Server convinced the testers in all categories and therefore obtained the VB100-Award. In addition, the extremely fast Avira engine was appreciated as were the user friendly configuration options available to the administrator on the MMC-based program console.
