First Place! Avira AntiVir PersonalEdition Classic in Performance Test

Tettnang, 28 February 2008 – The free virus protection from the German IT security experts is not only very good but also really fast. This is the conclusion of PassMark Software’s Benchmark Report.
What makes a good virus protection program one of the best? Quite simply: if it has a very high detection rate and also provides perfect performance. It can then react faster to current dangers and work on the PC is not disturbed due to performance. What use is a good detection rate if the computer is brought to its knees with every virus scan?
The independent experts of PassMark Software have devoted themselves to performance tests with the Benchmark Report. They tested thirteen renowned anti-virus programs against each other for the best boot-up times, virus scanning, start-up, memory requirements, downloading/updating and the effect on the speed of Internet Explorer.
