Mobile security – PDA-Solutioncenter concludes distribution contract with Avira GmbH

Neufahrn/Tettnang, 23. August 2006 – The first viruses and malware aimed at mobile users are in circulation. Mobile end devices such as pocket PCs (PDAs) and smartphones are progressively developing into multifunctional devices. Their versatility is increasingly making these devices into lucrative targets for virus and malware attacks. Today, anti-virus software has become indispensable on PCs. Those who spend a great deal of time online with their pocket PCs or who enjoy trying out new software should also use protection on their PDA or smartphone.
PDA-Solutioncenter GmbH, which has been renowned for product innovations in the field of mobile communication and navigation for over 5 years, has responded to the growing demand among specialist dealers for suitable security solutions with regard to PDAs and smartphones. In order to provide adequate protection for the mobile sector in the future, a distribution partnership has been entered into with Avira GmbH, the leading German provider of anti-virus and security solutions.
The Avira AntiVir Mobile security solutions for pocket PCs and smartphones offer comprehensive protection against the manipulation, destruction and theft of data. The software can be installed and updated in a matter of seconds via the ActiveSync process on pocket PCs or transfer of the program package on smartphones. The system reports any malware detected and is able to immediately delete infected data. The specially-developed AntiVir Malware Detection Engine only occupies 150 to 220 KB of RAM and is consequently one of the smallest and highest-performance search engines in existence on the market. For PDA and smartphone users, it is crucial that both performance and battery operating time are not reduced through activation of the Avira AntiVir protection. AntiVir Mobile additionally enables scanning of the ROM and memory cards.

Resellers can obtain both products as a bundle at a dealer purchasing price of EUR 20.66 and thus offer a comprehensive protection package for PCs as well as for PDAs and smartphones in their product range.
