Christmas presents: high tech products top the list in 2008

An Avira survey shows that high tech gadgets are the most sought-after presents
Tettnang, 17 December 2008 – Happy Christmas: Every year millions of people spend time thinking about Christmas presents. Game consoles and MP3 players were among the most popular presents last year, but what is high on the present list of 2008?
3,959 visitors participated in Avira’s latest survey at www.free-av.com titled “Be honest, what gadgets and PC equipment would you like to have for Christmas?” According to the survey, a fourth would go for hip multimedia furniture such as a table with a touch screen and 31 percent would prefer more security and would be happy to have anti-virus software with enhanced protection against hackers.
This year every seventh person would be happy to get a games console, while eight percent would love to have a new MP3 player. However, not all participants to the survey like technology gadgets: for ten percent high tech presents are a real No-Go, another twelve percent don’t accept Christmas presents and prefer to donate money to charitable organizations.
The term good cause is of great importance for the German IT security expert Avira as well: All private users who have bought the Avira software make a contribution to the Auerbach Foundation. Every copy of the Avira AntiVir Premium or the Avira Premium Security Suite purchased in the Avira Online Shop automatically donates five euro per sold product to the foundation. The foundation promotes charitable and social projects such as art, culture and science to have a higher amount of protection and security in the world.
