Ernst & Young recognizes entrepreneurial achievements. Renowned entrepreneur award will be presented for the tenth time on 21 September.
Tettnang, 15 September 2006 – A business award celebrates its anniversary: this year the auditing and consultancy company Ernst & Young is recognizing outstanding entrepreneurial achievements of companies for the tenth time. Several hundred candidates competed for the prestigious title of “Entrepreneur of the Year”. Only 100 of these companies reached the final, including Tjark Auerbach, the CEO of Avira GmbH.
Avira is a worldwide leading developer and supplier of security and recovery solutions for professional and private use. With more than twenty years of experience, the company, founded in 1986 by Tjark Auerbach and two partners as H+BEDV Datentechnik, is one of the pioneers in this field. With millions of private users, Avira AntiVir Personal is a significant contribution to security.
An independent, top-flight panel of experts will now nominate the “Entrepreneur of the Year” from the best candidates in each of the five categories Industry, Trade, Services, Information Technology and Start-up.
Avira impressed the jury in particular with sustained growth and innovations. The company based in Tettnang near Lake Constance in Germany is one of the region’s largest employers with more than 180 employees. Worldwide more than 250 people are employed and their work is regularly acknowledged by awards.
A decisive factor in the nomination was also the social commitment of the founder of the company, as in addition to protection of the virtual environment, Avira provides for more protection and security in the real world through its support of the Auerbach Foundation.
“I always found backing and support in my family. I would also like to give others similar security”, says Tjark Auerbach. The Auerbach Foundation promotes charitable and social projects as well as the arts, culture and science.
The winners of the award will be announced on 21 September in the “Alte Oper” in Frankfurt at a gala for 900 guests from the worlds of business, politics and culture.
