Wed, 12 December 2007
Tettnang, 12 December 2007 – In the big test of renowned anti-virus programs, Avira Is once again ahead. The pro-active detection of Avira AntiVir PersonalEdition Premium wins again in the AV-Comparatives Test with above-average results.
The Independent Institute AV-Comparatives has set itself the task of examining the most widespread anti-virus solutions In terms of their effectiveness. They test several times a year in various categories and criteria.
In the most recent comparative test, pro-active detection was examined. The virus scanners were confronted with a selection of completely unknown viruses. To achieve this they were last updated on 5 August 2007. From then on, new malware was collected through to 31 August. Approximately 25,000 malware programs, consisting of Windows viruses, worms, backdoors, Trojans etc. were collected.
The Avira AntiVir PersonalEdition Premium detected an Incredible 81% of the unknown programs. A clear first place (see diagram)! This Is made possible by the innovative Avira AHeAD (Advanced Heuristic Analysis and Detection) technology. Thanks to this heuristic detection, the software finds viruses that are not yet stored by in the definition update. For users, this means maximum security, even if they do not update their Avira software automatically for a long time.
