Datapol-technology is merged with Avira

Extended security portfolio offers comprehensive protection from variety of digital threats
Tettnang, 25 April, 2006 – Avira, the German IT security specialist, is acquiring all technologies of datapol GmbH. Originally based in Ulm, datapol develops security solutions for the protection of IT systems and data recovery. With this integration the antivirus specialist aims to complement its portfolio with seminal technology and can offer users comprehensive one-stop security solutions. The employees of datapol will continue to work in Avira headquarters in Tettnang.
Avira intends to broaden its coverage of the market and plans to become one of the leading international IT security providers within the next ten years. With the integration of datapol, the company behind the well-known antivirus software AntiVir has taken a major step towards accomplishing this goal. “As important as the solutions may be, the development staffs are equally important, which is why we are very happy that they will continue their work in Tettnang,” says Tjark Auerbach, the CEO of Avira. “This step secures further development of the former datapol-technology and means that our clients can shortly start profiting from perfect solutions.”
For over 15 years, datapol has been offering innovative data recovery solutions, with which companies can considerably reduce downtimes and the risks of data fraud and industrial espionage. The roster of clients includes national and international agencies and institutions such as the US Army and numerous schools and universities, which use the software of datapol.
