Avira strengthens its commitment in Austria

New subsidiary for closer customer proximity: German IT security expert opens office in Vienna
Tettnang/Vienna, 19 February 2008 – Avira’s growth in Austria is leading to an expansion of its presence with an additional office being opened in the capital city of Vienna, this is in addition to the existing sales office which was established in Innsbruck during 2006. Andreas Kroisenbrunner will be in charge of the new office, the 45 year old Key Account Manager will report directly to Rainer Witzgall, Sales and Marketing Director.
Avira has worldwide recognition with its virus protection AntiVir for private and business users. “For us Austria is an independent market. With the new office we want to have a stronger presence in Austria”, explains Tjark Auerbach, founder and managing director of Avira. “Our customers from Austria will benefit having local contact through the new office in Vienna as well as the existing Austrian partner network.”
Andreas Kroisenbrunner is no stranger in the security sector: In recent years as CEO of Check Point Software Technologies Austrian office he has taken them from being a technically oriented sales team into a more customer oriented one. “Despite my expertise, this new job is an exciting challenge and opportunity“, explains Kroisenbrunner. “I want to take advantage of the contacts I have already made in well known Austrian businesses and partners over the years, in order to make Avira even more successful. Naturally, I want to increase revenue and the number of users. However, for me it is still more important to actually be in Austria and support the Austrian customers, distributors and resellers with a direct communication.
The Auerbach Foundation will also be activated in Austria: Five euro of every Avira AntiVir Premium Version sold in the Avira online shop will be donated to the company’s founder’s charitable project. The incoming amounts will flow in to the country through charitable and social projects as well as arts, culture and science.
