Avira at CeBIT 2010: security made tangible

IT security specialist Avira will be on hand in Hall 11, Booth D19: there will be a preview of Avira AntiVir Version 10, a glass virus laboratory and a free gift of Premium virus protection for every visitor to the booth

Tettnang, 17 February 2010 - True to the motto "Minimize your worries, maximize your security", IT security provider Avira will offer visitors to CeBIT 2010 a taste of things to come in Avira AntiVir Version 10, the latest generation of its tried-and-tested virus protection solution. The new edition is easier to use and offers even greater protection than its predecessor. In addition, visitors to the stand will also be able to take a look behind the scenes in the "glass virus laboratory". As a special incentive, every fair-goer who visits the Avira booth will receive the gift of a free copy of Avira Premium Security Suite.

A new generation in virus protection: looking ahead to Avira AntiVir Version 10

The new interface in Avira AntiVir Version 10 is more minimalist, with more intuitive functions than the previous version and offering dynamic protection: the generic repair function removes files created by malware and eliminates any harmful elements remaining in the registry. In future, any malware detected will be reported in unobtrusive "slide-ups" and infected systems will be repaired with a single click. Also included is the ProAktiv function - a behavior-based recognition-mechanism (Host Based Intrusion Prevention System "HIPS") that uses typical activity patterns to identify as yet unknown malware.

Security: a live demonstration of theory and practice

Avira security experts will also deal with explosive security-related topics as part of a series of presentations at the CeBIT Security World Forum.

The glass virus laboratory on the exhibition booth will demonstrate how Avira actively combats virtual threats, minimizing the worries of users. Interested members of the public visiting CeBIT will be able to view digital viruses under the microscope and find out more about these virtual threats.

Free: copies of Avira Premium Security Suite for every visitor to the booth and starter kits for new partners

Avira is to give away a free copy of Avira Premium Security Suite to anyone who visits its booth, whether private users, corporate customers or partners. This means that visitors to the booth who have not yet registered with Avira can look forward to a free 3-month version of the security package. Interested parties who arrange an appointment prior to the exhibition sending an email request to row@avira.com will be rewarded by the IT security specialist with a one-year license. Partners, who decide on a cooperative sales partnership with Avira at CeBIT, will receive a starter kit worth euro 1,250 for free.
